Healthy Congregations Training Retreat

Program Fees: $200 for up to 5 people per congregation
Healthy Congregations is a series of 6 workshops designed to help congregational leaders model and promote life-enhancing behaviors within the church for the sake of ministry in Jesus’ name. The first two workshops will be completed in this weekend event, “Creating Healthy Congregations” and “Healthy Congregations Respond to Anxiety and Change.” An introduction to “systems theory” and “systems-thinking” will assist participants in identifying the sources of anxiety in congregational life, the marks of a healthy congregation, and will explore alternative responses to reactive behaviors within congregational life. Presentations include the use of videos and small group discussion in addition to leader-directed conversation on materials. Time for relaxing and enjoying the outdoors will be built into the weekend as well as Sunday morning worship.

Come to a weekend full of fun! You and a friend can pick a bunk in our retreat building and join other youth and staff as we explore a taste of camp life. Our staff will lead hikes, games, canoeing (weather permitting), Bible Study, and even an old-fashioned hot dog roast… complete with S’Mores! Meals are provided by the camp, you just need to bring yourself, a sleeping bag, and lots of enthusiasm as we play together.

Our annual women’s retreat for spiritual growth and new experiences! Sign up early and don’t miss the fun. Each weekend will have a variety of resource staff. Highlights include massage therapy, crafts, music, and lots of conversation! Housing is available both in the Kairos Conference Center as well as our year-round Retreat Cabins.
Quilting Weekend
March 4-6, 2011

Bonnie Lindsay (quilt designer, liturgical fabric artist, and quilting teacher) will lead our annual quilting retreat at Koinonia. All skill levels are welcome! Join us for uninterrupted sewing and fellowship and enjoy the gifts of Koinonia while you sew and worship with new and old friends! This year’s quilting theme will be the “Double Card Trick Wall Hanging” quilt. Once you register, a confirmation letter and list of quilting supplies and fabrics will be sent to you.

Your family is invited to share in fun and fellowship as we focus on our many blessings. Housing is at the Conference Center or Retreat Cabins. The retreat includes time to enjoy the 1200 acres as well as worship, relaxation, and, of course, a traditional Thanksgiving dinner together.
